Short version: Unmeet runs on your Mac, and your excuses never leave it.
Unmeet makes one kind of network request in its entire codebase: checking your licence key.
There is no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting and no third-party code of any kind in the app. Your job details, your excuses, what is written in the meeting chat and every escape you have made are never transmitted anywhere — they are only ever written to your own disk.
Unmeet is signed with a Developer ID certificate (Team ID 822U6764F5) and notarized by Apple, which means Apple scanned it before it could be distributed. macOS checks both every time you open the app.
You can also confirm the file you downloaded is exactly the one we published. In Terminal, run shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/Unmeet.dmg — it should print:

If you want to watch what the app actually does on the network, macOS lets you: a firewall tool such as Little Snitch or LuLu will show you every connection Unmeet attempts. You will see the licence check and nothing else.
Everything you set up in the app — your role, tone, colleagues, clients, projects, the excuses generated, and the record of which ones you've used — is stored only on your own Mac, in ~/Library/Application Support/Unmeet/.
None of it is uploaded anywhere. Excuses are generated on your machine from built-in wordings; no text is sent to any server, ours or anyone else's. We cannot see what you wrote, which meetings you left, or when.
If you purchase a licence, the app contacts the licensing service to activate it. That request contains:
The hardware identifier itself never leaves your Mac — only an irreversible hash of it does. It's enough to tell one Mac from another, and not enough for anyone to work out which Mac it was.
You can remove this at any time with Release this Mac in Settings → Licence, which deletes the activation from both your Mac and our licence server.
The licence server runs on Cloudflare Workers. Records are kept while your licence is valid; email support@getunmeet.com to have yours deleted.
Purchases are handled by Paddle, who act as the merchant of record and are the seller on your receipt. They receive your name, email and payment details; we never see your card number. Charges appear on your statement as PADDLE.NET*UNMEET. See Paddle's privacy policy.
When your payment completes, Paddle notifies our licence server, which creates your licence key. That server stores your key, the transaction ID, the email you paid with, and the name and activation date of each Mac you activate. Nothing else — no meeting data, no excuses, no usage.
Accessibility lets Unmeet see and press buttons in Teams, Zoom or Google Meet — that's how it mutes your mic, types the excuse and clicks Leave. It's used only during an exit you started, and nothing it reads is stored or transmitted.
Under GDPR you can ask what's held about you, request deletion, or object to processing. Since practically everything lives on your own Mac, deleting the app and the folder above removes it. For the licence activation, use Release this Mac or email us.
